Maine Conservation Voters

Dear John,

Thanks to conservation voters like you, we won huge victories for Maine's environment this year — but our lawmakers left Augusta without funding one of our most important priorities: the Land for Maine's Future program.

Right now, the LMF program is out of funding, putting protections for hundreds of thousands of acres of some of Maine's most beautiful and productive land at risk. To restore funding, the legislature must reconvene and vote to put a bond on the November 2019 ballot. If the legislature doesn't act by mid-August, the bond won't make it to voters.

We need your help today to restore funding for the LMF program. Will you join us and urge your elected officials to come back into session to pass this critical funding measure? Click here to send them a message (personalized messages are best).

For more than 30 years, the Land for Maine's Future program has protected more than 600,000 acres of some of Maine's most beautiful and important natural and recreational areas in all 16 counties across the state, including more than 315,000 acres of working forestland and more than 9,700 acres of productive farmland.

But after years of inaction and neglect by the previous administration, the LMF program and our state parks are in desperate need of additional resources. With $40 million in funding over the next four years, this new bond proposal would help shore up funding for the LMF program, increase funding for state park maintenance and infrastructure projects, and increase the number of staff, among other much-needed improvements to the program.

We know it won't be easy to convince our lawmakers to head back to Augusta, but this program is far too important to be left unfunded. Please join us to send a personalized message to your lawmakers that we must act immediately to protect the Maine we all love.

Thank you for speaking out.

Beth
