Hi John,
Heads up: Our first free event of 2022 is on -- and it is a See Yourself Running for diverse young progressives in rural communities!
Why rural? Because rural communities have been left behind by both sides of the political spectrum. Republicans take them for granted, focusing instead on keeping their corporate donors happy, and Democrats have ignored them.
That ends now.
Run for Something believes in running everywhere, and we are committed to helping even more diverse young progressives run and win in rural communities across America.
Do you love your community? Run! For! Office! The first step is signing up today for our FREE See Yourself Running: Rural Candidates on January 26th at 8 p.m. ET. We'll cover all the nuances of running in a rural community.
The fact is, we all have the same basic needs: accessible medical care, clean water, broadband access, transit options, and jobs with living wages. But still, Democrats struggle to speak about these popular issues with rural folks.
Who actually knows what rural communities need? The people who live there!
We've had some really great Run for Something alums run and win in areas that national Democrats might write off, like City Councilmember Janeth Vazquez in Liberal, Kansas (population 19,731) and State Senator Rod Hickman in Shuqualak, Mississippi (population 546).
The fact is that in many of these races, folks care less about if you have a D or an R next to your name as long as you'll get to work.
If we want to progress, we can't leave our rural communities behind any longer. You don't need a law degree or a long resume, you just need to be willing to roll up your sleeves -- and Run for Something will help you every step of the way. Sign up now for See Yourself Running: Rural Candidates on January 26th.
If you're living in a small town or on a farm, I hope you'll join.
