John,

Today is the first day of the legislative session. As we gear up for this critical election year, here are some key priorities in the Kansas Legislature:

  • Axe the Food Tax - Eliminating the state sales tax on food. Kansas has the second highest food sales tax in the nation, but under Governor Laura Kelly's plan, Kansans would no longer be burdened by the high tax and save an estimated $500 per year.
  • Prioritize education reform - The pandemic has taken a toll on our students. This session, we are focused on boosting the progress of K-12 students and making higher education more affordable.
  • Expand Medicaid (Kancare) - After years and years of public demand, it's time for Kansas to expand Medicaid. This will keep more than 100,000 Kansans healthier & boost federal funding for health care.

Democrats have a lot of work to do this session and need your help! Can you chip in $20, $35, $50 or $100 to the KDP to help re-elect Governor Kelly and Democrats up and down the ballot so they can keep fighting for Kansans?
