Hi John,
My name is Etan, NIAC's new Digital Associate. I handle a lot of the coordinating, posting, and writing for our website, social media, and emails (like this one). As a frequent behind-the-scenes contributor for NIAC, I thought it would be a refreshing idea to write directly to you and tell you why I’m grateful to be a part of this time in our community.
I am proud to work at NIAC because we are living in a moment of great consequence, and dysfunction --especially with regards to our institutions. Our failed institutions continue to play major roles in negative policy outcomes that affect the lives of the Iranian-American community.
Sometimes, those policy outcomes result in years of embarrassing, excessive, and detrimental war, like in Afghanistan or Iraq. I fear that without a strong, unified opposition, war hawks who beg for maximum pressure and war with Iran might get their way. We cannot let that happen.
I believe in peace and diplomacy. And that is why I’m working for NIAC, to add my voice to the chorus of Iranian Americans and allies who oppose war as an option. And even though I’ve only just started here, I’m proud to be at a place that prioritizes peace, my community’s voice, and our country’s democracy above all else.
I'm only able to continue this work with your support. John, can you send a tax-deductible donation our way so we can continue pushing for diplomacy and peace on behalf of our community? [[link removed]]
