This Week at DSA-LA: A summary!

January is now in full swing! Below you'll find details on several committee meetings this week — Mutual Aid, Labor, Healthcare Justice, and Education Workers — as well as a town hall on the chapter's 2022 Member Survey and tabling for CalCare. If you're looking for weekend plans, consider attending the disaster preparedness skill-share or join comrades writing postcards in support of Hugo Soto-Martinez's city council campaign (those fluent in Spanish, Thai, and Tagalog especially encouraged!).

Don't forget we have a Chapter Meeting coming up on January 22 where you can learn even more about how to get involved with socialist organizing happening in Los Angeles. And finally, nominations are now open for committee leadership as well as for delegates to the California state DSA.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Share your thoughts at the DSA-LA 2022 Member Survey Planning Town Hall!

TODAY! Monday, January 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

If we want to achieve victory in our ongoing struggle against exploitation, oppression, injustice, and capitalism, it is crucial for us to know our own capacity at any given moment.

That’s why, by the end of January, we plan to survey our membership to learn about their demographics, availability, skills and interests!

We are hosting a town hall about this survey project on January 10th for two reasons:

  • So members can learn about our survey plans and how they can help
  • So members can provide crucial input about the plan and the survey itself

Please join us if you’re interested! However, if you can’t make it, you can still share feedback using this form!

You should also review the current member survey, developed in 2021. This is the template that we may adapt based on feedback.

Looking forward to seeing anyone that can make it!

This event is presented by the DSA-LA Admin Committee

Nominations are now open for committee leadership and California state DSA delegates

Over the past few years, DSA has made major strides organizing across chapters at the state-wide level. Last spring DSA-LA joined a supermajority of other California DSA chapters to scale up that work by voting to form a new statewide organization.

Now it's finally time to elect the 28 representatives from our chapter to serve on the new CA DSA State Council! The nomination period starts on January 7th, and ends on January 21st at 11:59 PM. Voting for delegates will start promptly on January 22nd and end January 29th at 11:59 PM. Winners will be announced on January 30th. You must be a member in good standing of DSA-LA to be a delegate. Please use this form to nominate yourself!

Nominations for committee leadership are being distributed through each subgroup. The nomination period for these positions will also end on January 21st, 11:59 PM.
