[ [link removed] ]Donate to fight white supremacy!
John,
We all remember where we were on January 6th as we watched a group of
violent white supremacists descend on Washington, D.C. and who were
willing to do whatever it took to force their way into the US Capitol
building. We remember the smashed windows, the panicked Congresspeople
crouched behind chairs while insurrectionists destroyed their offices, and
the Conservative politicians who raised their fist in solidarity with the
racist militia.
[ [link removed] ]It's been more than a year since this vicious attack. Will you donate
to keep Color Of Change in the fight to make sure our democracy does not
continue to be eroded by white supremacists? Every single dollar helps.
In the past year, Republican lawmakers in 49 states have introduced racist
voter suppression laws. Meanwhile, Republicans in the US Senate have used
the Jim Crow Filibuster to block federal legislation that would protect
the right to vote and to stop an investigation into the insurrection.
These lawmakers are sending a clear message to the white supremacists
that attacked the Capitol: those who seek to weaken our democracy have
allies at every level of our government. But this isn’t a new trend at
all. Conservatives at the state and local level have worked together for
over a century to limit the political power of Black people – with tactics
ranging from poll taxes and literacy tests to voter intimidations and
suppression.

In 2021, 19 states passed 34 laws that shortened the window for absentee
voting, limited early voting, closed polling places in Black communities,
and instituted harsh voter ID requirements. Election officials in these
states are exploiting the lack of federal oversight to impose policies
that disproportionately limit Black voters’ access to the ballot and
restrict their ability to elect political officials who will address the
needs of Black people. [ [link removed] ]Donate $20 today and support our campaigns to
pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to fight racist voter
suppression nationwide.
At Color of Change, we don’t take donations from corporations. We depend
on support from members to drive our campaigns to protect our democracy
in your state and across the country. [ [link removed] ]John, you’ve
joined our campaigns in the past. Can we count on you to contribute $20 to
support our campaigns to combat voter suppression?
Republicans have done everything in their power to protect the white
supremacists who perpetrated the insurrection. But they don’t have the
power: We do.
