2021 was a year of relationship building.
When choosing organizations to partner with, Groundwork Project didn’t just rely on a handful of local leaders or consultants to describe the landscape and recommend good groups. Instead we invested significant time into collecting information, developing relationships, earning trust, and creating an active partnership.
Why?
Because Team GWP is committed to building political infrastructure long term. Groundwork is the missing link in the existing progressive investment portfolio. While recent years have brought increased interest in sustainably funding the local grassroots, pennies on those dollars go to red states. This neglect is imperiling our political success, policy agenda, and democracy itself.
So Groundwork stepped up, and you did too.
In 2021, we met with hundreds of community organizers, advocates, and activists working year-round in places traditionally under-resourced, excluded, and ignored. You donated, completed surveys, collaborated, and helped us ultimately select our first three official partners:

Through your participation, we were able to create a one-of-a-kind Grant Program. Through our Groundwork Project Partner Grants, we were able to provide multi-year financial assistance and wrap-around support to these incredible organizations. Give now to support future grantees! [[link removed]]

-Groundwork Project Team
> Founded by Joe Kennedy III, Groundwork Project invests in year-round, local community organizing in places Democrats have gotten used to writing off. With a focus on Appalachia, the Deep South, and the Plains, we support local advocates and activists working to build durable political infrastructure and secure power for those historically excluded.
