Dear John,

This coming Wednesday the DC Council will hold its first hearing about rent control in this legislative session. Can you join us in testifying for stronger and expanded rent control? This hearing is about preserving the status quo, simply reauthorizing rent control as is. Let's see what the status quo has gotten us so far:

  • As of September 2019, DC is the 6th most expensive city to be a renter [1]
  • Over 6,000 people are sleeping on DC streets or in shelters each night [2]
  • Almost half of DC residents pay more than 30% of their income in rent, and one in five spend more than 50% of their income on rent [3]

Enough is enough! We must demand more than the status quo at the hearing!
