LAST WEEK, our Republican opponent released a poll showing the race for CA-49 in a statistical dead heat. According to his pollster, it’s tied 43%-43%.

THEN RIGHT AFTER, his campaign immediately got to work spreading complete lies about Mike’s record in a fundraising email to supporters. It’s unfortunate, but we can’t say we’re surprised.

Our Republican opponent can’t run on his own record, so he’s taking a page out of Trump’s playbook: spread falsehoods and distract from the far-right’s real agenda -- repeal the Affordable Care Act, reverse course on climate change, and give tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy at the expense of middle class families.

It’s only a matter of time before lies like this one turn into million dollar attack ads on TV. Can you chip in $5 or more right away to help us counter the smears coming from Mike’s opponent?

The truth is Mike is hard at work meeting with folks about how we can create meaningful progress to expand health coverage, bring down the cost of prescription drugs, protect Social Security and Medicare, and defend our coastlines. He’s held more town halls in eleven months than his predecessor held in his entire career.

That’s what this community cares about -- not Trump-like smears and dishonest attacks. But right now, we need to ramp our efforts because we can’t afford to let these attacks go unchecked.
