Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

I hope you are having a great start to 2022 with family and loved ones. I have enjoyed being back home in Arizona meeting with constituents. I am looking forward to going back to Washington, D.C. again for a busy week in the U.S. House of Representatives next week.

My Statement on the One-Year Anniversary of January 6th

January 6, 2021, was an avoidable security failure that we can never allow to happen again. It is unacceptable that one year later the American people still do not have an answer as to why the U.S. Capitol was left so vulnerable. Read my full statement here and watch my remarks below:

CNS News

January 6th was an avoidable security failure. Since Nancy Pelosi is responsible for security of the U.S. Capitol she needs to tell the American people and Congress why the Capitol was unprepared. I am proud of the Capitol Police for doing their best in the absence of a proper security plan. Click below to read more!

The Tennessee Star

I am appalled by Biden's irresponsible use of funds that were supposed to be spent on COVID-19 testing for Americans but were instead used to care for illegal immigrants. I led a letter to Biden DEMANDING answers on his decision. Click below to read more!

Lesko Introduces Bill to Block Federal Vaccine Databases

I introduced a bill to prohibit federal funding from being used for the creation or maintenance of a federal vaccine database. A federal vaccine database could be used by the Biden Administration to discriminate against the unvaccinated.

Lesko Demands Hearing on the Treatment of January 6th Defendants

Image

This week, I joined Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) in a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler and House Oversight Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney to DEMAND a hearing on the extremely troubling reports of mistreatment of those awaiting trial for their actions on January 6th.

GET THE FACTS: Fentanyl Seizures at the Southern Border Hit Record Numbers

As you may have heard, for the first time in America’s history, more fentanyl than heroin was intercepted at the border. In Fiscal Year 2021, the number of fentanyl seizures increased by 134%. The number of fentanyl seizures at our southern border continues to rise as fentanyl overdoses have become the leading cause of death among U.S. adults between the ages of 18-45. To stop fentanyl from invading our nation, the border must be secured! Biden’s border disaster is a humanitarian, security, and public health crisis that needs immediate attention. These crises cannot continue to be ignored!

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office for assistance in getting his 2020 IRS return processed and refund issued. After contacting the IRS and coordinating for his tax return to be processed, the constituent obtained his refund from the IRS.

Encouraging Story

As we wave goodbye to the holiday season, I am pleased to share this story about a  veteran receiving a free hearing aid as part of a local audiologist office’s holiday campaign. HearingLife hosts the Magic of Hearing Care holiday campaign every year. HearingLife has worked hard to help those in need in our community each holiday season, and I am proud of them for their generosity. It’s great to see the ways people in our local communities are helping those in need.
