I’ve seen a patient more fearful of medical debt than a cancer diagnosis
Team,
Headlines like this break my heart:
As a radiologist specializing in breast imaging, I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen a patient more fearful of medical debt than a cancer diagnosis. Red tape and insurance nightmares like this are all-too common, and bar many Americans from being able to afford the life-saving care that they need. That’s why I support Medicare for All.
Medical bills are so overwhelming in the U.S. that over a quarter of GoFundMe fundraisers are for medical costs. The New York Times reported that medical debt, totaling $140 billion, is the most common reason for debt collectors to come knocking at your door.
When I’m elected to the U.S. Senate, I’m prepared to fight for Medicare for All, because no family should have to choose between putting food on the table and being able to afford the medical care that they need to survive. If you’re with me, sign on in support of Medicare for all now.
Opponents of Medicare for All are putting insurance and pharmaceutical companies ahead of people. They disingenuously cite its cost as the reason for their opposition. This is nonsense.
Numerous economic studies have shown that a single-payer system like Medicare for All would decrease the overall cost of health care in our country, improve health outcomes for patients, and save taxpayers trillions over the next decade.
We need leaders who will fight for us, and for a healthcare system driven by a desire to heal people — not by the status quo or the bottom line.
It’s time for a new kind of leadership in Wisconsin. Gillian built her career on integrity, advocacy, and action, and she’s ready to put that skill set to work in the U.S. Senate! It's going to take all of us working together to defeat Ron Johnson to get her there, but if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
