Hi John,

A few days ago, Harvard constitutional law professor Laurence H. Tribe published an op-ed, saying:

“The risk of a coup in the next US election is greater now than it ever was under Trump”

One of the reasons? After Christian Nationalists failed to overturn the election results of 2020, they’ve been targeting election jobs in battleground states.

In Georgia, one of the leading candidates to become secretary of state, former pastor and current Congressman Jody Hice, voted to overturn President Biden’s win in the hours after the January 6 riots. Posting on social media earlier that day, Hice wrote “This is our 1776 moment,” referring to the American Revolution.

How do we stop these forces from succeeding?

With your support right now of $15, $25, or $50, we’ll be able to fully fund two critical initiatives. [link removed]

First, we’re working to recruit and help elect atheists and humanists to local, state, and federal offices - many times, the same seats targeted by Christian Nationalists. People like Jared Huffman, who co-founded the Congressional Freethought Caucus, and called the events on January 6 a "violent coup" and an act of "sedition".

Second, we’re lobbying Congress right now to pass a new voting rights law, that would improve election security, address redistricting, and increase voting access for people who have been traditionally marginalized.

If you’re concerned to hear how insurrectionists plan to take electoral power, please contribute $15, $25, or even $50 to our midterm year initiatives. [link removed]

Here’s the good news, John. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to increase the number of elected officials who identify with the atheist or humanist community by a whopping twelve times.

These are champions who are committed to holding the January 6 insurrectionists accountable, who will fight to protect the right to vote, and who are countering violent Christian Nationalists' power grab by defending the separation of church and state.

With the midterms later this year, we have our work cut out for us. Stopping the next coup depends on all of us doing our part. Please chip in to our efforts today.

Thank you for your support.
