Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 45 | January 8th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear John, Happy New Year to you and your family. We hope you had a wonderful and healthy holiday season. The start of a new year means the start of a new legislative session in Albany and the Governor’s annual State of the State Address. As I said in my official Republican response, New Yorkers certainly don’t need Kathy Hochul--or even me for that matter--to tell them what they already know: our state is broken. Incompetence and an extreme leftist ideology are destroying New York. Out-of-control taxes and spending, rampant crime, and attacks on our freedoms are all contributing to the mass exodus of New Yorkers who are fleeing our state. Accidental Governor Kathy Hochul calls herself a “Joe Biden Democrat” and we couldn’t agree more. She is incompetent and not up for the job. This year’s election for governor is our last and final chance to turn things around. This is our only opportunity to stop socialism under one-Party Democrat rule in Washington and New York. While there is much to be angry about--and believe me, I’m angry too, we must harness that anger into the energy and organization needed to win in November. I have never been more optimistic or excited because I know that if we do what we need to do, 2022 will not just be a red wave, but a tsunami of historical proportions. Please take a moment to watch my Republican response to Governor Hochul’s address and share it with your family and friends. Join me as we kick off 2022 and this exciting election cycle. State Republican Chairman Nicholas A. Langworthy found little to like in the governor's speech, zeroing in on her crime proposals. "When you look at who is being treated as a priority by our governor: it’s criminals, it’s lobbyists and it’s people in this country illegally," he said. "Democrats’ deadly bail reform law has resulted in nearly 3,500 cases where criminals who were released without bail went on to commit violent felonies." And Rep. Lee Zeldin of Suffolk County, considered the leading contender for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, blamed the "Cuomo-Hochul administration" for "punishing taxes and a skyrocketing cost of living, out-of-control crime, suffocating attacks on our freedom and unending scandals.
