On behalf of everyone at the DPVA, thank you for making our historic victory this week possible. Thanks to your support, Virginia Democrats will have full control of state government for the first time in decades, or as I like to call it, the trifecta.

This landmark victory is a tribute to our candidates, their commitment to the issues that matter, and the work of a strong Democratic Party of Virginia and our partners. Most importantly, we owe this victory to the people of Virginia, who with their votes spoke loudly and clearly in placing control of the House and Senate into Democratic hands. Virginia voters made it clear that the time is now for common-sense gun violence prevention, a raise in the minimum wage, the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and all the progressive reforms we campaigned so hard on this year.

And we owe our victory to your hard work and support. Everyone who got involved in this election made a difference. Whether it was knocking on doors, making phone calls, registering voters, signing postcards, making a contribution to power our candidates across the finish line, or any number of important ways to show support, every little bit helped us make history on Tuesday.

I especially want to thank the 128 Democrats who stepped up and ran for General Assembly seats and the countless others who ran for important local offices. Because of them, Virginia will have its most diverse General Assembly in history and our government will be one step closer to truly reflecting the makeup of our vibrant and diverse Commonwealth.

Year after year the Democratic Party of Virginia continues to lead the way, setting the tone for the rest of the country. In 2017 our elections were the first big chance to push back against the Trump administration -- and on that night we gave hope to the nation. In 2018 we helped power the blue wave that took back the House of Representatives by flipping three Congressional seats and sending three highly qualified women to Congress. This year we set the stage for 2020 by flipping the House of Delegates and Senate in a monumental victory.

Supporters like you are a big reason why we’ve been so successful over the years and your commitment to advancing Democratic values is so important at a time like this. But our work doesn’t end here. 2020 will be our biggest challenge yet and I’m confident that we can finish the job we started, thanks to your help.

Thank you again for all of your hard work and support. Let’s take a few days to rest and relax and then let’s get to work for 2020!
