Hi John —

I hope you had a wonderful and safe holiday season! As I reflect on 2021, I’m filled with gratitude for this team, for the progress we made together, and for your support which made it all possible.

Last year, our Democratic majorities got right to work on major legislation for the American people — from passing the American Rescue Plan providing critical COVID-19 relief and increasing unemployment benefits, to accelerating our path to a clean energy future and expanding broadband access through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Just last month, the first piece of legislation from our Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act was signed into law, the Protecting Moms Who Serve Act. And I’m incredibly proud that the House unanimously passed the Maternal Vaccination Act to protect moms and babies against vaccine-preventable diseases and save lives.

Even in the face of unprecedented challenges, we made some incredible progress in 2021 — progress that wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

Now I won’t sugarcoat it, we still have a lot of work ahead of us in the weeks and months ahead.

As a registered nurse, so many of the fights ahead are deeply personal to me — from increasing vaccinations to stop the spread of COVID-19, to reforming a deeply unequal health care system, to passing legislation that will save the lives of moms across the country. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work — but I can’t do it without you, John.

In 2020, I won my race by just 5,374 votes — less than 1.5 percent — and we’re in for another close race this year. Our campaign will rely on support from this grassroots team this year more than ever to keep up our organizing and outreach efforts, keep making progress for our communities, and win the expensive midterm election ahead of us.

That’s why I’m humbly asking you to make your first contribution of 2022 to our campaign for Congress. We have our work cut out for us in the weeks and months ahead, but together, I know anything is possible.

Thanks for everything, John. I couldn’t be more honored to have you a part of this team.

Warmly,

— Lauren
