John,

As you know, the ‘Build Back Better’ (BBB) package passed by the House of Representatives is currently stalled in the Senate.

Negotiations on the bill continue within the Democratic caucus, while Mitch McConnell’s Republicans refuse to even consider the policies within.

BBB represents the single largest climate investment in American history. The Senate has a once-in-a-decade opportunity to make a consequential and lasting impact on climate change by passing the bill and sending it to President Biden for his signature.

That’s why SEEC members are working around the clock with their Democratic colleagues in the Senate to build a path forward to pass climate change policies.

Fortunately, in the past week, Senator Joe Manchin has made encouraging statements about the climate provisions of BBB. In an interview Tuesday, the West Virginia Democrat said, “I think that the climate thing is one that we probably can come to an agreement much easier than anything else.” With Senator Manchin’s support, SEEC members remain cautiously optimistic that making climate progress in the Senate is achievable.

SEEC members are making a difference in tackling climate change. Their persistence means we have a real shot at passing far-reaching climate legislation in 2022 and sending it to the president to sign.

But we can’t let up the pressure, John. We must continue supporting SEEC members for their work on climate change. Can you help with a donation to let them know you’re standing with them at this pivotal moment?
