There are 361 days until Election Day 2020!
ELECTION DAY 2019
Tuesday was a big day for Democrats in our country! There were big successes – Virginia turning their legislature BLUE for the first time in 25 years and Kentucky electing a Democratic Governor. But all over the country there were little successes. Like the 3 new Democratic Mayors elected throughout Florida. And far away, the school board in Norwalk, Connecticut sweeping out the Republican incumbents with new Democrats. Little by little we are making progress. We can do this, Florida! We can do this, Indian River County! But we still have a long, hard fight ahead of us. So, celebrate our wins this week, and get back to work next week. We have a lot of work to do!
THANKS TO ALL FOR BLUE BALL’S SUCCESS
Thanks to everyone who helped make the Blue Ball: 2020 Vision on November 2nd a wonderful event! We sold 101 tickets and the Events Committee transformed the Florida Irish-American Society into a silver and blue ballroom with great food and entertainment. The keynote speaker was Kimberly Diaz Scott, the state director of Warren for Florida. Most importantly it was lovely to see so many Democrats in one place having fun. We hope everyone enjoyed the evening. It was the Democratic Club’s first fundraiser and we hope to hold our next fundraiser in May.
NEW CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
Congratulations to the 5 new City Council members elected in Indian River County on Tuesday. Sebastian elected Damien H. Gilliams, Charles Mauti and Pamela Parris. Vero Beach elected Rey Neville and Joseph Graves. All 5 will be serving as first time elected officials. We wish all of them the best as they represent citizens in Indian River County!
COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR
Main Street of Vero Beach hosts Coffee with the Mayor once a month. It is a great networking opportunity and a chance for attendees to advertise local events and businesses. It is also good to hear what is going on in Indian River County from the mayor. It is important for Democrats in our county to attend and let the mayor know we are part of this community, too. See the flyer below for details and please attend!
PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE - SURVEY MONKEY
The results are in! Joe Biden is the number one preferred candidate by 1 point over Elizabeth Warren. Pete Buttigieg is a close 3rd. We had 28 people take the survey but it seems pretty indicative of what we are seeing nationwide.
DWC LUNCH
This Saturday, November 9th is the DWC Monthly Luncheon. See the flyer below for location, speaker and lunch details.
DEMOCRATIC CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING
The Nov. 12 meeting of the Democratic Club will be all about YOU. This meeting will concentrate on what members want from the Club – such as speakers, activities and fundraising events. This will be a chance for you to use your talents and skills to help win in 2020! Pizza and salad will be served. Cash bar available.
Our meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Irish-American Society, 1314 20th St., Vero Beach. We always have social time at the meetings so please join us and meet with like-minded folks.
FELLSMERE CHILDREN IN NEED – HELP!
So far, we have received NO donations for the children in Fellsmere. The Fellsmere community is seeking Christmas donations for children ages 11 to 18. These children are now excluded from the Toys for Tots program due to their age. If you are able and willing, the office will be accepting gifts or gift cards for these kids through the month of November. Please bring any donations to Stacey at the Democrats of Indian River Headquarters, 2345 14th Ave., Vero Beach, 32960.

WHY VOTE BY MAIL?
Are you signed up to Vote By Mail? If not, why aren’t you? The statistics show that people are more likely to Vote By Mail compared to voting at the polls. Why should you encourage people to Vote By Mail? Here are some excellent arguments to help you make your case.
PROTECT YOUR VOTE
- Vote by Mail ballots are counted FIRST and can be tracked online.
- Last minute travel, illness, ride availability, inclement weather will not be impediments.
- Vote by Mail ballots are mailed 30 days in advance; plenty of time to research the candidates, issues and amendments.
- You don’t need an ID to Vote by Mail.
- You can call or check online to make sure your ballot was received by your Supervisor of Elections.
- Your ballot will not be returned for insufficient postage. The Post Office must take your ballot with or without a stamp.
- If you decide to vote at the polls, just take your VBM ballot with you.
- Mail it.
- A drop box will be located at all three early voting sites in Indian River: the Main Library in Vero, the Sebastian City Hall and the Office of Supervisor of Elections on 43rd Ave.
- You can drop your ballot in the Ballot Box outside the Supervisor of Elections building any day, any time until Election Day.
