Hi John, coming to you after a chat recapping our 2022 strategy. Here are my notes:
Buckets of work in 2022
States that haven't adopted maps yet: Florida, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Kentucky, and more. We're still fighting hard to stop Republicans from gerrymandering here.
States with anti-gerrymandering lawsuits: Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Alabama. These are still in play.
Supporting federal reforms: The New York Times is reporting that the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act could move in the Senate early this year!
I'm super excited for 2022 -- the fight for fair maps is far from done. But I have to ask you for a favor -- can you chip in to help us fund our efforts to combat Republican gerrymandering? Our special mobilization team donate link is [link removed]
One more thing -- have you heard about the states that have adopted fair maps recently? In the final days of 2021, Michigan joined states like California, New Jersey, Oregon, Iowa, and Colorado in finalizing fair maps. This is amazing news and it wouldn't have happened without our community!
Now it's up to us to deliver more wins like this in 2022. Will you pitch in?
