This week, we marked the one-year anniversary of the right-wing attack on the U.S. Capitol in an effort to overturn a fair and free election. In the wake of their election loss in 2020, far-right lawmakers across the country have worked to restrict voter access and enable corrupt politicians to dismantle election results they don’t like.
And worst of all, Republican Senators have been in lockstep over preventing even debate on much-needed federal voting rights protections to overcome these attacks on our elections. But we are fighting back.
We’ve been urging President Biden to take action immediately to urge the Senate to fix or nix the filibuster in order to overcome the Republican blockade and pass the Freedom to Vote Act and other critical voting rights legislation – and we need your help to convince them to do so. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has promised that we would get a vote on this critical bill this coming week, so we need you to express your support to both the president and the Senate right away!
The Freedom to Vote Act sets national standards that increase access to the ballot box, neutralize partisan gerrymandering, protect our elections from interference, and so much more. Importantly, this bill would foil the vast majority of anti-voting bills that have either already passed or are making their way through state legislatures right now.
Your words will make all the difference in getting the Senate to act in support of voting rights. Please take a moment to tell President Biden and your senators how highly you value passing the Freedom to Vote Act!
