Friend,
FPC has filed a new, important legal brief to protect the Second Amendment.
Our brief supports a case challenging a lifetime ban on gun ownership that was imposed on a man convicted of a single non-violent misdemeanor.
The plaintiff was not even required to serve any prison time for his offense, and he paid restitution.
But 26 years later, he is still denied his Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
FPC’s brief argues that a lifetime ban on gun ownership based on non-violent offenses runs contrary to American history.
FPC Attorney Joseph Greenlee explained, “The founders never intended for someone like him to be deprived of the right to own a firearm for any period of time, let alone for life. We believe that the Court should hold the government’s prohibition unconstitutional and restore his Second Amendment rights.”
No American should be denied their freedom for a minor crime that was settled nearly thirty years ago.
Thousands of combined federal, state, and local laws covering minor offenses could be weaponized to deprive anyone of their fundamental rights – unless we destroy that idea here and now.
We depend on the support of patriots like YOU to defend and advance the Second Amendment!
