WOBURN -- With the slate of ceremonial proceedings finished and the 1-year anniversary of the Capitol riots having ended, Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Jim Lyons is encouraging voters to remember the toxic rhetoric displayed yesterday by the Democrats.
"Here they were seriously comparing last January's unrest to the attack on Pearl Harbor that claimed 2,403 Americans and the attacks on 9/11 that immediately resulted in almost 3,000 American deaths," Lyons pointed out. "Yesterday the Democrats' saw a chance to try and distract from real problems they've caused like inflation, skyrocketing fuel prices, keeping our kids out of school, and their failed promises to 'shut down the virus.'
"Yet Americans who saw or heard any of the Democrats' gross overreach yesterday
and are living with the consequences of their leadership aren't fooled."
Lyons also referred to comments made by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey during 2020's wave of rioting. A day after rioters took to the streets of Boston, destroying businesses and setting fires, Healey remarked during a virtual Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce gathering, "Yes, America is burning, but that's how forests grow."
