John,
One year ago this week, our nation watched in horror as violent insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol as part of a protest against what they considered to be a stolen election.
Since then, emboldened by this attack and the refusal of Republican lawmakers to publicly confirm that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election, state legislatures around the country have been attempting to limit voting rights.
Make no mistake: the right to vote is the most fundamental right in our nation. I hear overwhelmingly from folks here in the district that voting rights are a top priority for them, and I couldn’t agree more. But our current member of Congress, Don Bacon, voted against the John Lewis Voting Rights and Advancement Act, which would restore and expand critical provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and ensure that Black Americans in the 21st century are afforded the protections guaranteed by the original legislation.
We must send a strong message to Don Bacon and Republicans across the country that Nebraska is ready for a representative who will make voting rights a priority. Will you consider making a contribution to my campaign today to ensure I have the resources to become that representative?
