Friends,
It was five degrees below zero last night when I spoke at the rally on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol. Despite the bitter cold, a crowd came out to observe the one-year anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol - and to stand up for our democracy.
I reminded the audience that although our fingers and toes were paying the price for attending the rally, it was a price worth paying. We were there because of a shared principle: Democracy is worth protecting.
We have an obligation to push back against the disinformation, deception, and lies that fueled the storming of the U.S. Capitol.
We start by telling the truth: the 2020 election was fundamentally fair, accurate, honest, and secure.
If we can fight against frostbite, we can fight against those who are trying to corrode and undermine our democracy.
My job as Secretary of State is to defend our democracy and I’m going to continue to do that but I need your help. Will you make your first donation of 2022 to make sure we can continue countering the misleading narratives?
Thank you for everything,
Steve
