John,
Looking at Earth from space is remarkable and hard to describe. To see our planet as this majestic blue ball floating in the blackness of space is breathtaking. It’s truly the most amazing thing I’ve seen.
But when you look more closely at Earth, you start to notice some of our planet’s scars. As a former astronaut, I’m often asked about the climate and damage to our planet. My response often surprises people: “Don’t worry about the planet. Earth will be just fine. What you need to worry about is the rest of us.”
But right now, Washington is letting us down. Failure to act on climate comes with a price we will all have to pay in the years and generations ahead.
Most climate scientists believe time is running out if we are to prevent irreparable damage to our planet.
That means there is no time to lose.
2022 must be the year we act on climate. I’m committed to making that happen. Please let my colleagues know you agree:

Make no mistake, our planet is sending us a message. We can’t ignore it, and I can guarantee you it isn’t going to fix itself.
All my best,
Mark Kelly
