Yesterday's infamous anniversary of the deadly January 6 insurrection is a reminder we can't take our democracy for granted. Donald Trump's presidency and the insurrection were a wake-up call that exposed the cracks in our democratic institutions.
No one is above the law — including the president. Elected officials shouldn't be able to use their public office for personal profit or be able to interfere in independent investigations. And they definitely shouldn't be allowed to solicit help from foreign countries to interfere in our elections.
That's why Derek and the House passed the Protecting Our Democracy Act last month. If signed into law, it will safeguard our democracy for generations by restoring the guardrails of our democratic systems.
Now, we need the Senate to take up this critical pro-democracy legislation. Will you sign our petition to tell the Senate to take up the Protecting Our Democracy Act for a vote?
