John,

After finishing just 3.1% short of the mark last year, we got right back to work to finish the job. We ignored the noise about redistricting and focused our efforts on the things that were within our control.

As we embark on the New Year I am proud of everyone at Team Maryott who pitched in to put us in an excellent position to win the primary, which will be underway in less than 4 months!

Team Maryott in 2021:

Raised nearly $1.8m in 2021, and we enter into the election year with nearly $1.2m in cash on hand.

Generated over 2,200 unique donors and over 10,000 combined (cycles), we continue to expand our national reach every day.

Built a team of volunteers and interns that is unmatched in California, with over 1,000 labor hours a month of work and growing rapidly.

We have earned the trust, confidence, and formal endorsement of nearly every Republican elected leader in the CA49 footprint - including three County Supervisors, Republican Assembly Leader, both Republican State Senators, and eight Mayors including the long time Mayors of two of the three biggest cities in the district.

We have also earned the endorsement of the San Diego Lincoln Club and the California Women’s Leadership Association.

From our campaign base in both counties, we’ve maintained a year-round door-knocking program and in 2021 we knocked on over 9,500 doors to let people know we are fighting for them every day, and we will restore common sense on Capitol Hill.

I am very grateful to everyone who has helped us have a very successful off-season. Many thanks...

Brian

*When the redistricting commission finished their work, Laguna Niguel was added to the 49th, and a few smaller enclaves in the RSF/Del Mar area were removed. Partisan registration is now almost evenly split between Republicans and Democrats. The district remains overwhelmingly white, with Latino Americans at 20.1% and Asian Americans 7%.
