I know yesterday was an important day for many of us, as our republic still lives in the shadow of the events that unfolded at the Capitol just one year ago.

Due to the imminent arrival of Sofia's and my first child, I am home in Illinois -- but I certainly was on the floor of the House chamber in sprit alongside Vice President Dick Cheney and Rep. Liz Cheney yesterday.

My continued focus one year later is the truth, and nothing but the truth. That shouldn't be controversial. When it comes to ensuring a day like January 6th, 2021 never happens again, I don't care who the facts help or hurt in November. For me, it's about the survival of the republic, not the next election.

Yesterday, I shared my perspective on many media outlets, but was especially pleased to take this message directly to Fox News viewers.
