** Vice President Mike Pence: We’re Heading Back to the Moon and Then on to Mars
------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday marked “the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, when ‘one small step for man’ became ‘one giant leap for mankind,’” Vice President Mike Pence writes in Fox News. “Unity is the true legacy of Apollo 11 – and we must capture that same unity in our own day by renewing our commitment to American leadership in space.”
Under President Donald J. Trump’s order, “the first woman and the next man on the moon will both be American astronauts, launched by American rockets, from American soil. The United States will lead the creation of a base at the moon’s South Pole where astronauts could reside for weeks and months,” the Vice President says.
“And from what we learn there, we will become the first nation in the history of mankind to set foot on the red planet of Mars.”

“To celebrate one year since President Donald Trump's ‘Pledge to America's Workers’ was announced, adviser Ivanka Trump and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar visited Hy-Vee's innovation center in Grimes — and shot some hoops while they talked job training,” Robin Opsahl reports for the Des Moines Register ([link removed]) . “Ivanka Trump said Hy-Vee — and Iowa as a whole — are great examples of workforces with high participation and room for advancement.”
“If migrants are already safe in another country, why shouldn’t they apply for asylum there before coming to the United States and applying here? That’s the perfectly sound logic behind a rule Team Trump put in place Monday: Migrants who pass through another country will be ineligible for US asylum unless they’ve first sought it, unsuccessfully, in that third country,” the New York Post ([link removed]) editorial board writes. “Even with lax asylum rules, courts wind up denying 80 percent of the requests — eventually. Yet the backlog ensures that this can take years.”
“Speaking at Kennedy Space Center on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, Vice President Mike Pence announced that the Orion capsule that will take American astronauts back to the Moon is ready,” James Rogers reports for Fox News ([link removed]) . “The Artemis program will land American astronauts on the Moon by 2024 and establish a sustainable human presence on Earth’s natural satellite. Artemis will also make history by landing the first woman on the Moon.”
“U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue will visit San Diego County Monday to tour local businesses and participate in a signing ceremony for the Trump administration's Pledge to America's Workers Initiative,” Kristina Houck reports for Patch ([link removed]) . “While there, a signing ceremony will be held for the Pledge to America's Workers, a federal agreement with private sector businesses to create education and job training opportunities for workers in an effort to boost private sector job growth.”
