Stewart Navarre’s Statement on Redistricting

KING GEORGE — Stewart Navarre issued the following statement in response to the release of the new Congressional maps.

“I announced my candidacy for Congress because I am deeply concerned that millions of Americans have begun to doubt the promise of America and our democracy - and I believe that our best days are ahead of us. Over the past several months, I have had the privilege of speaking to thousands of fellow citizens in Virginia and across America who have shared their hopes and fears about the direction of our country. I have received exceptional support by family, friends, a great campaign team, community leaders, and donors. It has been an absolute privilege to campaign for Congress. We are in uncertain and difficult times and it is during times like these that we need leaders who have been tested and will work tirelessly for their constituents in our District and for fellow Americans across our country. The recently approved Congressional map places my home county - King George - in the 7th District of Virginia - where Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D) is the incumbent - and with whom I share a common vision for our future. After discussion with friends and family I believe that it is in the best interests of our district, our country, and our democracy to support Representative Spanberger’s re-election to Congress. Therefore, I am formally suspending my campaign. While I am greatly disappointed that I will not have an opportunity to serve in the next session of Congress, I am not done, and am committed to doing all I can to make a better future for all of us. I hope all of you will join me in doing everything we can to help re-elect Representative Spanberger.”
