Friend,

Other than during the Civil War, it's hard to imagine a time when our nation has been less unified.

But one thing that always binds us together is the abiding respect we all share for our veterans. In a time of such division, why don’t we actually do at least what the “Veterans Day Moment of Silence Act of 2016” ( link [[link removed]] ) said we would: observe two minutes of unified silence throughout our beautiful land at the same time every Veterans Day (which this year falls on Monday, November 11th).

This law calls for the President to issue a Proclamation each year calling on all of America to observe this moment of silence starting at 2:11 pm Eastern Time. If you agree, please post your support on Twitter and Facebook to urge the President to honor our vets with the hashtag #uniteforvets .

Joe visits with an incarcerated veteran at Graterford State Correctional Institution on Veterans Day, 2015

As I typically do, I will be visiting with incarcerated veterans this Veterans Day at Graterford/Phoenix prison in my native Pennsylvania.

You can read about my policy plans for veterans issues here [[link removed]] .

Warmest regards, Joe
