[1]Bowman for Congress
John,
Exactly one year ago — a mere three days after my colleagues and I were
sworn into the 117th Congress — a violent mob attempted to stage a coup,
carried out by white supremacists and emboldened by fascists.
Hate was allowed on the porch of democracy for far too long. On January 6,
2021 — with the help of right-wing politicians who endorse white supremacy
— it broke down the door.
Iʼm proud to have been one of the first members of Congress to introduce a
bill to hold these instigators accountable. Iʼm also proud to support my
colleagues, like Representative Cori Bush, as we all continue to fight to
ensure that the Republicans who incited this shameful, deadly violence are
held accountable.
Itʼs important we raise our voices today to demand accountability for this
shameful day. [ [link removed] ]Please join me in signing your name right now to Coriʼs
resolution, calling on Congress to investigate and expel the Republicans
who helped incite a deadly coup at the Capitol last January.

Itʼs no secret that in America, white nationalism and bigotry runs deep.
Itʼs just that last year, it reached a climax in a failed attempt to
silence us.
We must use this experience as fuel for truth in policy and action, and to
reflect on the actions we must take to ensure that an attempt to overthrow
and destroy our democracy never succeeds.
Our country is in need of healing, which requires action, accountability,
and telling the truth at all costs. It starts with holding those
responsible for violence accountable.
