On January 6, 2021, our democracy was threatened by an attempted insurrection at our nation’s capital, as far-Right extremists were emboldened to storm the Capitol Building by President Donald Trump.

 

So today – January 6, 2022 – we’re reflecting on that fateful day, remembering the sacrifices made to preserve our capital, and reaffirming our commitment to protect American democracy.

 

As President Biden reminded us in his speech this morning, the battle for the soul of our nation is not over yet.

Friend, there are still Republicans in Congress who supported the insurrection – and who voted against an investigation of the events that took place on January 6. We cannot allow Trump’s Republicans – like Marjorie Taylor Greene – to bring on another violent coup at our Capitol.
