To all of the Wichitans who encouraged and supported our write-in campaign for Wichita Mayor,
Last evening brought an end to our challenging, yet rewarding campaign as a write-in candidate for the office of Mayor. Although we worked hard and were able to offer an alternative to the two candidates printed on the ballot, the challenge of a write-in campaign proved too much to overcome. Our effort, however, changed the conversation and pointed out the many changes that are needed to point our great city in a different direction. The voters told us that they wanted that change and chose Brandon Whipple to lead for the next four years. He is our Mayor-elect and will need everyone’s help to accomplish our dreams.
I am proud of the way we conducted our campaign and will always be grateful to all of the people that stood behind our effort. I don’t want to start trying to identify all of the help for fear of leaving a lot of people out, but I do want to acknowledge the talent and skill of Rebecca Zepick White and Stephanie Kohlhoff who provided their strategic, technical and creative talents to coordinate a hastily assembled team. I’m thankful for the friendship and support of all of those prominent Wichitans that provided endorsements and financial support because they wanted a better Wichita. Marty and I are very grateful for the efforts of all and will continue to stay connected and involved. For over 42 years, Marty has been my partner and head cheerleader and I am so proud of her and all my family for their unending love and support. Thanks for yours’ too.
