# [#]John,

On this most solemn day of the one year anniversary of the violent attack on the citadel of democracy, the U.S. Capitol, I reflect not only on the horrors of the day, but also the bravery of the Capitol Police and the survival of our Constitution.

Our democracy is fragile. Every one of us, regardless of political affiliation, must commit ourselves to protecting our democracy.

The words of my oath to protect and defend our Constitution have great depth and meaning. So many Americans have given their lives to defend democracy. We, in our day and time, must reject the Big Lie and division, and embrace unity for the sake of democracy.
