John,

On the one year anniversary of the January 6th Capitol attack, KDP Chairwoman Vicki Hiatt released the following statement:

“The calculated and planned assault on our nation's Capitol threatened the tenants of our democracy. The insurrection showed us the very worst of what divisive leadership, extremist rhetoric, and conspiracy theories promoted by powerful elected officials can do to our country.

"As President Biden said, the insurrection was a sad reminder that there is nothing guaranteed about our democracy. But a year later, we can say confidently that democracy did prevail, and we must fight harder than ever to preserve and protect it. Today, we send our utmost condolences to the families of the U.S. Capitol Police officers who lost their lives or suffered injuries — both mental and physical — at the hands of armed insurrectionists while defending our democracy.

"As we head into 2022, we must put an end to these harmful conspiracy theories and hold our representatives accountable in the fight to protect our democracy."

Please consider supporting the Kansas Dems in our fight to ensure fair and honest elections.

Onwards,
