At the National Immigration Forum, we believe there is a great window of opportunity to prioritize immigration legislation early this year. Without congressional action on immigration, it is difficult to solve the challenges at the border, combat labor shortages, or address other negative impacts of inaction on immigrants and native-born Americans
alike.
Through building new bipartisan alliances, Democrats and Republicans can work together to establish a consensus on immigration reform in the aftermath of the push on including immigration in reconciliation efforts. It is vital for Congress to come together on this crucial issue before the mid-term elections consume all attention. A bipartisan consensus would positively benefit millions of people
(including both undocumented essential workers and U.S. citizens), which in return would expand the U.S. economy by billions of dollars. And now is the time to act.
Legislative solutions to immigration challenges will help address other problems the United States is facing. Not only is providing certainty and legal status for Dreamers and other essential workers vital, but economic prosperity of immigrants also strengthens our economy. And only through bipartisanship can border security challenges be resolved.
We believe that the Biden Administration should pivot to build common ground with Republicans and Democrats to extend relief to immigrant families and communities across our nation before this window of opportunity closes as we approach the midterm elections.
The Bibles, Badges and Business network invites you to join us in building new alliances and strengthening established ones to create momentum towards a crucial consensus on immigration in 2022.
Stay healthy and hopeful,
Adam Estle Vice President of Field and Constituencies National Immigration Forum
