Friend --

A year ago today we witnessed one of the greatest threats our democracy has ever faced — a violent mob incited by Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol building and tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

In an election that Donald Trump had clearly lost, he was willing to attack the very basis of our democracy, all in an attempt to maintain power as President of the United States.

Despite the damage Donald Trump caused to our democracy during his four years in office, this was still an unthinkable event that shook the entire world. Our country’s political system was put on display as Trump loyalists smashed windows, defaced federal property, and threatened the lives of members of Congress.

As part of the team of impeachment managers who made the case against Donald Trump during his second impeachment trial, we stand by our case against the former president, and we wholly support the January 6th committee’s investigation into who was responsible for what occurred that day.

In support of the January 6th committee’s quest to hold those accountable for attempting to overthrow an election, we’re asking you to add your name and fight for our democracy. Sign our petition to let the GOP know we are demanding accountability for what happened on January 6, 2021.

After January 6th, our democracy has been left in a fragile state. The GOP continues to push the boundaries of our democratic process every day. We will not stand by while many attack our rights and undermine our access to voting or any other freedoms they can get their hands on.

So, Friend, on the first anniversary of this devastating attack on our political system, will you add your name to defend our democracy? Sign our petition and demand accountability from the GOP for what happened on January 6th, 2021.

Thanks for your support,

Reps. Ted Lieu, Eric Swalwell, Stacey Plaskett, & David Cicilline
