Yesterday at the 2022 State of the State, Governor Hochul announced what the Renewable Heat Now campaign and our allies have been asking for ([link removed]) - a commitment and funding to electrify 2 million homes by 2030 ([link removed]) ! This will slash a huge source of New York’s emissions and ensure safe, healthy homes for millions of us. See the press release here ([link removed]) for more information.
Hundreds of you helped achieve this victory by making phone calls, signing letters, contacting elected officials, and increasing the visibility of these crucial issues on social media. Thank you! When we fight, we win!
And now the Renewable Heat Now campaign is pushing for even more ambitious climate action. Gov. Hochul also committed to requiring new buildings to be zero-emission by 2027 at the latest, but we and the Climate Action Council ([link removed]) know that is too slow to meet our climate targets. That’s why AGREE and the rest of the Renewable Heat Now campaign are pushing for a package of legislation including the All-Electric Building Act ([link removed]) , which would ban fossil fuels in new buildings by 2024!

If you’ve never lobbied before, don’t worry - it’s easy! Your representatives work for you, and the more constituents they see supporting a policy, the more likely they are to support it too.
