[1]Mandela Barnes for Wisconsin
Friends -
As we mark one year since the violent insurrection attacks on the U.S. Capitol, I wanted to share a few thoughts on the importance of protecting our democracy.
Let me be very clear:
This is not a Republican issue or a Democratic issue. It is a question of respecting the fundamental values that our country was founded on.
Unfortunately, Ron Johnson has repeatedly spread lies and conspiracy theories about the January 6th insurrection, and he has blatantly sided with the insurrectionists. His response is deeply damaging to our state and our country, which is why it is so important that we defeat him in November.
The foundation of our democracy is under attack, both nationally and right here in Wisconsin. And it is up to all of us to come together to protect it.
Last month, I released a plan to protect and strengthen our democracy — a fight that will be a top priority of mine in the Senate. Here are the key parts of the plan:
- Pass a new Voting Rights Act
- Stop the wealthy from buying elections
- End partisan gerrymandering
- Strengthen ethics rules for federal officials
- Enhance election security
- End the filibuster
But the truth is, we will never strengthen or protect our democracy unless we all make our voices heard. And that starts with adding your name – especially today:
Please sign my petition to say you support my plan to pass a new Voting Rights Act, stop the wealthy from buying elections, end partisan gerrymandering, end the filibuster, and enhance election security.

Today is an important day to show you are committed to protecting the future of our democracy. So thank you for adding your name to say you support my plan.
All my best,
