Update on Key Issues Concerning Christian Citizens The New Redistricting Maps & What They Mean Thank you to everyone who engaged in the process and advocated for fair representation during the redistricting process. While the outcome may not be what many hoped for, there is no doubt that grassroots citizen involvement did make a difference. While certain legal questions are currently being sorted out in the courts, the maps are set to take effect in six months, and as we have for the past thirty years, CTV will continue to strategically work to elect principled candidates across the state. You can view the final maps, as adopted by the Commission, here As we evaluate the new districts and begin to strategically organize grassroots teams, it is fair to say that many of the new districts are politically more diverse and challenging for candidates who hold Biblical, traditional values. This means that we will have to work harder than ever before to elect true servant-statesman to represent Christian citizens in Lansing and Washington, D.C. Consider partnering with us as a grassroots volunteer or church liaison, or make a contribution of any amount to help with our efforts. Election Integrity Petition Drive Fair and free elections are essential to preserving our Constitutional, Representative Republic. A citizen-led petition drive, Secure MI Vote, is seeking to bypass the governor's veto in order to implement meaningful election reform in Michigan. These reforms include showing ID when voting (in person or absentee), preventing private companies (like Facebook) from running elections, and stopping clerks from doing mass-mailings of absentee ballots to people who never requested them. To find a location where you can sign a petition, follow SecureMIVote on social media or contact our office. Supreme Court Case Could Overturn Roe The Pro-Life movement has never had more momentum than it does at this moment, with the US Supreme Court poised to overturn the constitutional question that has allowed abortion in this nation since 1973. Both science and common sense tell us that the victims of abortion are unique and innocent human beings, though still in the womb. We ask that you you would join us in prayer for the Justices as they deliberate and prepare an opinion on the arguments that were made last month. You can find the latest updates on the important case here. As we pray and believe for a just outcome that will defend all innocent life, our team is also gearing up to support our legislators in standing strong to preserve Michigan's ban abortion. Michigan leads the nation with one of the most stringent bans on abortion, dating back to the 1930's. Our governor has already asked the legislature to consider lifting this ban and repealing our pro-life protections, but so far, our lawmakers have held their ground. We ask that you keep them in prayer too. A Win for Religious Liberty A federal appeals court recently upheld a California seminary's right to maintain biblical values on marriage. “The religious exemption applies to shield these religiously motivated decisions that would otherwise violate Title IX’s prohibition on sex discrimination,” the court wrote. Thank God that some Courts in the U.S. still hold to the First Amendment guarantee of our inalienable right to freedom of religion and conscience. Read more. Education Choice STAY TUNED! You will have the chance to support an Initiative led by the"Let MI Kids Learn" ballot committee that will put more power/resources in the hands of PARENTS as they make decisions for the education of their children. This initiative will allow parents to take advantage of scholarships and tax breaks if they contribute to a statewide fund that could be used for private education, including homeschooling, private schools, tutoring, and other educational resources. CTV strongly supports this measure, as it empowers parents to make the best decisions for their children by giving them real choices in educational options. Petitions will be ready soon – read more about the proposals here.
