November 7, 2019: Fifty-seven million Americans now do freelance work, earning nearly a trillion dollars in annual freelance income.[1]
According to the “Freelancing in America: 2019” report, 45% of freelancers provide skilled services such as computer programming, marketing, and business consulting. Another 30% provide unskilled services such as dog walking, ridesharing, and personal tasks.[1]
The report also notes that “Freelancers have a median rate of $20 an hour compared to a median of $18.80 for the U.S. overall.”[1]
