Hi —

On this day last year, we all watched in horror as an armed right-wing mob invaded the U.S. Capitol and tried to change the outcome of a legitimate election.

This attack against our country, our democracy, and our freedom emphasized the dangers facing our nation and underscored the urgency with which we need to ensure our political system works for all of us.

It’s mind-boggling that we are still facing threats to our democracy from far-right lawmakers, an entire year later. And what’s even more baffling is that some of our state lawmakers who were at the attack are still sitting in office — and will be running for re-election again this year.

One of our top priorities for 2022 will be working to defeat these anti-democratic politicians and elect pro-environment champions who will protect our right to democracy.

We know it’s only January, but we’re up against well funded and organized opposition, which is why we’ve set an ambitious goal of $10,000 by the end of this week to get our election work off the ground and running. Will you make a donation to help us elect candidates who will protect our air, water, land, AND democracy in 2022? [[link removed]]

Over the last eight years, Governor Wolf’s veto has often been the only safeguard to prevent devastating rollbacks to environmental protections and attacks on voting rights. It’s imperative that we preserve that control and elect a new, pro-environment governor in addition to legislators in the state House and Senate who will fight for policies that combat dirty pipeline infrastructure, promote clean energy, and advance democracy access and environmental justice for low-income communities and communities of color.

Our mantra has always been that good environmental laws can only come from good environmental lawmakers. And now we’re seeing that the same can be said for laws that protect democracy, having fended off repeated attempts at voter suppression supported by the same people who were part of the violent insurrection last year.

Most of us believe that people who commit treason against our nation and endanger lives have no business governing in our name. That’s just one of the reasons why we are starting early and fighting hard. This year we plan to knock on tens of thousands of doors, mail hundreds of thousands of voters, and reach millions on social media, all to turnout voters in key districts whose voices are going to make a difference.

The stakes are incredibly high this year, and we can only do this with your help. Pitch in to our Political Action Committee today so we can meet our $10,000 goal and kickstart our plans to elect environmental and democracy champions in 2022 [[link removed]]

Thanks for everything you do for this movement, and Happy New Year.
