John,

A year ago today, tens of thousands of Trump loyalists stormed the U.S. Capitol to erroneously defy the presidential election results.

The nation witnessed an insurrection and the desecration of our democracy, the incitement of a riotous mob by a sitting and now-twice impeached President enabled by over 100 Congressional Republicans. At least seven people died in connection to the riot, dozens injured, millions across the world traumatized by the swelling violence enacted by the Trump wing of the Republican Party.

We wish we could say that this has served as a wake up call for the Republican politicians who spewed the Big Lie to anyone who would listen and advocated for a coup. But, the truth is, the opposite has happened. Republicans are emboldened by the mob’s actions on that day and are now taking unprecedented steps to undermine democracy in all levels of government.

Our Democracy is in danger, John, and we need to fight back. That’s why the California Democratic Party leads the nation’s largest Voter Protection Program which includes a team of volunteers and attorneys who work through election day to ensure that voters in all corners of the state have the ability to fairly and equally exercise their right to vote.

John, can you chip in $6 to our Protect the Vote Fund today? Every dollar donated goes toward funding critical work to protect the vote in 2022 and beyond. [[link removed]]

January 6, 2021 was one of the darkest days in our democracy’s history, and still Republicans evade accountability. It’s absolutely critical that we use our ground game to protect the right to vote, AND pass legislation to protect the right to vote nationwide.
