One year ago today is why I’m in this race, John. On January 6, 2021, our representative for Florida’s 15th District, Scott Franklin, after literally just 48 hours on the job, voted to overturn the very same election that put him in the House. And this vote came AFTER the white supremacist mob stormed the Capitol to overturn the election by force. Which means Franklin chose to validate and support an armed insurrection. Read that sentence one more time: Our Congressperson validated and supported an armed insurrection. Disgusted, appalled, angry, terrified, whatever adjective you want to use to describe how it feels to watch a fascist confirm everything you feared about extreme authoritarianism in this country: It all went through my head. I decided I had to do something about it, and that’s why I’m running to kick Scott Franklin out of Congress.
