One year ago today, insurrectionists violently stormed the U.S. Capitol
with the intent of overturning a free and fair election. Incited by Donald
Trump, it was a planned attack against democracy.
When the House Floor was cleared on January 6th, about 30 of us were left
behind, trapped in the gallery as the insurrectionists invaded. I remember
fearing for my life and preparing for a fight as they pounded on the
doors, only feet from where I hid under the seats. I am grateful that I
reached safety later that day, but our democracy is far from safe.
Trump and his Republican allies continue to peddle dangerous
misinformation about our elections. They continue to attack our democracy.
And they continue to introduce anti-voting bills — including more than 400
nationwide last year. We must respond with the urgency necessary. That’s
why I’m continuing my call for the Senate to immediately reform the
filibuster, pass voting rights legislation, and protect our democracy.
[ [link removed] ]Democrats have the power to secure free and fair elections in our
country. Now we must do exactly that in the Senate. Can you join me in the
fight to pass historic voting rights legislation through the Senate with a
$3 contribution today? Our democracy is on the line.

Trump, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, and other Republican lawmakers used their
large platforms, falsehoods, and propaganda to help incite the
insurrection. That’s why we must not forget what happened, why we must
continue the investigation into January 6, and why we must hold everyone
involved fully accountable.
McConnell and GOP legislators nationwide are trying to restrict voting
access and specifically target people of color. At the same time, people
are still spreading the Big Lie that the 2020 election was rigged. This is
why we must respond quickly by changing the filibuster and immediately
passing legislation to protect voting rights, free and fair elections, and
our democracy.

donation towards my continued work to pass voting rights and protect our
democracy.
I know that if we keep up this work, we will preserve our democracy and
justice will prevail.
In solidarity,
Pramila
