Dear Fellow Young Democrat,

There's no way to spin it. A year ago our democracy came under attack.

As we remember the insurrection on the Capitol a year ago today, we need to understand this, we cannot take our democracy for granted. When 64% of Americans believe U.S. democracy is "in crisis and at risk of failing," ([link removed]) that is a wake up call that something must be done!

There is much that needs to be done in our own state to save our democracy. In this week alone, the Indiana GOP has shown Hoosiers they will put their conspiracy theories and culture wars ahead of a better future for their families.

Mike Schmuhl ([link removed]) , Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party, this week said “Indiana Republicans have one objective for the session this year: endorse misinformation and conspiracy theories just to try to win elections. The worst part: the INGOP will ignore the truth and wishes of hard-working Hoosiers to get it done, including key stakeholders like the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana State Police ([link removed]) ,”

We know the road ahead looks daunting, but this is where we come in. There's a lot of work that needs to be done. The Indiana Young Democrats are prepared to fight for a future that includes all Hoosiers and stand in solidarity with every community in our Hoosier state. As Young Democrats, we understand that we must advocate for our generation’s priorities in climate, education, reproductive health, and racial and economic justice.

Democrats are providing solutions to today’s most-pressing problems facing our families. We are delivering livable wage jobs for workers, advocating for future economic opportunities like cannabis legalization, and calling for a statewide effort to get more COVID-19 vaccines in arms.

In Indiana, Democrats are creating a better future for Hoosiers while Republicans choose irrational and divisive culture wars.

We are calling you to join us in this fight for a better Indiana. Hoosiers deserve policies that will uplift our communities and leaders who will champion those ideas. Change will only happen when we make it happen. It's time to fight for our Democracy!

It's our Time, our State!
In solidarity,

Arielle Brandy

Are you ready to run for office? Are you a young Democrat who wants to make positive, local change?

We want to support you! Fill out our 2022 Candidacy Interest Form ([link removed]) to let us know - or send it to someone you know who is considering running!
[link removed]
Please be certain the most recent version of the filing form is being used by your candidates. You can find the documents under the “Candidate Information” tab of the election division’s website ([link removed]) .

Your county election board is the best source of information to confirm the precinct name on your filing is accurate. The party’s voter file or the state portal on indianavoters.com may not be updated when filing opened on January 5, 2022, given the tight turnaround with Census data and staffing bandwidth.

A declaration of candidacy must be notarized. Please do not sign any candidate form until you are in front of a notary! The notary affirms that the signature is yours; it is not an indication that any other information on the candidate form is accurate or complete.

*Marion County - The county renamed all of their precincts so everyone who files for office in Marion County, including for PC and state convention delegate, should contact the election board or voter registration to verify their precinct before completing their declaration of candidacy. Or they can look it up on the county's voter information portal at
maps.indy.gov/VIP.
