Friend,

Today is a tragic anniversary.

One year ago, we watched in horror as violent insurrectionists attacked the U.S. Capitol building and tried to overthrow our democracy.

While heroic first responders and the Capitol Police put an end to that day's violence, the threats against our democracy haven't stopped.

Donald Trump's "big lie" has fueled a movement that's spread to every corner of the Republican Party.

Here in Michigan, radical Republicans in the State Legislature are using the 'big lie' as an excuse to change the rules and pass laws that take away our freedom to vote.

Across the country, violent threats and acts of harassment against election workers and elected officials are multiplying.

And all the while, Republicans in Congress refuse to act.

Friend, if we want our democracy to survive this terrible moment, we need action, right now, to protect our election process.

That's why I'm asking you to join the fight today by adding your name to support the Freedom to Vote Act. If passed, the act would improve ballot access and strengthen election security in our country.

Please, sign on right now and show your support for American democracy.

With your help, I know we can keep the pressure on Congressional Republicans. It's time for them to finally put what's best for our country ahead of what's best for Donald Trump.

I will never forget January 6th, 2021, and I hope you don't either. We can't take our democracy for granted, and I am grateful to have you by my side fighting for our nation's future.

In gratitude,

- Debbie
