Located within the Adult Social Care Department of Nottingham City Council, the team manages the financial affairs and property of vulnerable citizens who lack mental capacity, under an Order from the Court of Protection. *Job Purpose:* The Assistant Deputyship Officer role is both challenging and rewarding. You will be required to case manage the financial affairs of approximately 60 clients; contributing your technical and social care skills and experience to delivering the departments goal of ensuring better lives and better outcomes for some of Nottinghams most vulnerable citizens. *Day to Day Duties:* Managing an active caseload of approximately 60 client cases and ensuring up to date recording; Frequent liaison with your clients, stakeholders and partners requiring excellent communication skills; Maximising clients income through appropriate benefit claims and securing other income; solving problems that arise with claims and payments through your Welfare Rights knowledge; Devising financial statements and spending plans and ensuring clients receive an appropriate personal allowance for their day to day needs, requiring excellent numeracy skills; Ensuring that clients liabilities are paid: for example, care fees contributions, accommodation charges, bills and other liabilities; Making decisions in relation to additional request for funds, goods and services in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act; Home visits to clients at least annually, and the completion of official reports for the Office of the Public Guardian; Financial processes: such as banking and reconciling financial accounts. *
* *ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Previous experience of working with financial matters: in particular connected to individual client casework; excellent numeracy skills;
Ability to work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders in internal and external social care, support and care provider services;
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; including managing challenging conversations and conflict;
Strong organisation skills, ability to prioritise, and work on your own initiative, including the ability to problem solve;
Knowledge of welfare benefits relevant to the client group, and of local authority services provided by Adult Social Care;
Knowledge of the needs of citizens with long term conditions and / or disabilities;
Ability to provide a service to a diverse range of people and deliver great customer service.*

You will be supporting people through some of those most challenging parts of their lives, and so determination and compassion are a must. We are particularly looking for experienced practitioners, but are keen to hear from those newer to the profession as well. *Experienced Practitioners:* *Starting salary 28,785 with the potential to earn up to 32,878 depending on PQ accreditation* *
* You will have a strong understanding of, and good experience in, at least one of the following areas of work:
Court of Protection and Deprivation of Liberties
Planning and reviewing complex and extensive packages
One or more specialist service areas such as Mental Health or Learning Disability
Safeguarding Along with this wed like to hear about; your experience in the whole life cycle of a case from allocation through to commissioning, occasions youve managed situations of complex family dynamics, your understanding of appropriate escalation, and your experiences of court work or similar. *Newer Practitioner:* *Starting salary 25,295* You will be enthusiastic about working with some of the most vulnerable citizens in our communities to support them in regaining, or developing, as much independence as possible. You will be eager to further your practice with challenging work, and seek out the development opportunities each case will bring. Through your work, or placements, so far you will have worked to deadlines, and with a range of citizens. You will be able to explain why you want to work within Nottingham City, and what your understanding of the challenges our citizens face are. *All Practitioners:* You will be a qualified Social Worker holding BA (hons), MA or Dip SW.
You will be flexible, understanding that we work across the city with citizens.
We are recruiting to a range of posts within different teams, and offering fixed term contracts of up to 18 months initially.
