John,

One year ago today, I got thrown out of the Pennsylvania State Senate
chamber. Here’s what happened. 👇

Democratic State Senator Jim Brewster won his re-election fair and square.
In fact, the Pennsylvania Secretary of State certified his victory.

On January 5, 2021, Senator Brewster was supposed to be sworn in. But the
Republican leadership in the Pennsylvania State Senate refused to do it.

Republicans *literally* removed me from the chamber because I refused to
allow a motion that would block a duly elected senator from being sworn
into office.

When I reached out to supporters like you after the incident, here’s what
I said: “It’s unclear what will happen at this point, but I am very
worried about the direction this is heading.”

Well, looking back, we can draw a straight line to what happened the very
next day on January 6, 2021, when insurrectionists stormed the Capitol at
the urging of Donald Trump and people tragically lost their lives.

John, the
aftermath of the 2020 election was an extraordinarily dangerous time for
the country. One year later, the danger to our country is just as present.
We still have one party willing to flout our election process and
undermine the law just to hold onto power.

Just this week, we found out that NONE of the GOP frontrunners in this
race (including Dr. Oz) are willing to go on the record saying that Joe
Biden won the 2020 election or that they would have certified
Pennsylvania’s election results.

Here’s the reality in America in 2022: Maintaining Democratic control of
the Senate isn’t just about passing our policies, as vital as that is.
It’s also about protecting our democracy as we know it from the people who
want to tear it apart.

Now, here’s my promise to you: Send me to the U.S. Senate, and I will do
*exactly* what I did when Republicans threw me out of the state senate
chamber. Meaning I’ll do what it takes to make sure our elections are safe
for good.

[ [link removed] ]I’m NOT afraid to take on the insurrectionists, the enablers, and
anyone who attacks our democracy. Help me bring that energy to the halls
of the U.S. Senate, and solidify our Democratic majority by chipping in
$5 now.

John, we
can’t allow the GOP to dictate the terms of our democracy. But if we’re
going to take on Trump allies and special interests and win this election,
we can’t let our people-powered fundraising slow down one bit.

Thank you for everything,

John
