I want to make sure you hear this from me, folks:

Nevada will receive almost $285.2 million to fight the opioid epidemic. 

I’m proud to announce that my office secured funds from a multistate settlement that will go directly to communities most affected. The agreement includes Cardinal, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen – the nation’s three major pharmaceutical distributors – and Johnson & Johnson, which manufactured and marketed opioids. It also requires significant changes to their business practices to prevent a crisis like this from ever happening again. 

Fueled by greed and deception, the opioid epidemic has devastated entire communities and thousands of families across our state. 

Now, we are seeking real accountability from the drug companies that have fueled this crisis. 

While nothing will bring back lives lost to opioids, these funds will be used to prevent further loss of life and help heal Nevada's families. It means real investments in treatment for those experiencing substance abuse disorder, and other wrap-around services, including housing.
